Crocus longiflorus stigmas have been used for saffron in Sicily. Crocus thomasii stigmas were being accustomed to flavour dishes all around Taranto, South Italy. In Syria the stigmas of the unfamiliar wild species had been gathered by Females and youngsters, Sunshine-dried and pressed into small tablets which were being bought while in the Bazaars.
